Change of plans in Miami. In light of concerning weather forecasts, the FIA, Formula 1, and the organizers have decided to move up the start time of the Grand Prix.

Originally scheduled for 4:00 p.m. local time (10:00 p.m. in France), the start of the fifth edition of the Florida race will now take place at 1:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. in France). This decision was made in advance to prevent the race from being severely disrupted by the thunderstorms forecast for late afternoon.

In a joint statement, the governing bodies explained this choice: “Following discussions between the FIA, F1, and the Miami Grand Prix promoter, it was decided to move the start of the Miami Grand Prix […] to 1:00 p.m. local time […] due to weather forecasts predicting heavy showers in the late afternoon.”

Beyond the spectacle itself, safety was the primary factor behind this decision: “This decision was made to minimize disruptions to the race, ensure the maximum possible window to run the Grand Prix under the best possible conditions, and prioritize the safety of the drivers, fans, teams, and staff.”

This is all the more understandable given that in the United States, a federal law requires the suspension of public events during severe thunderstorms to ensure the safety of participants and the public.

On the grid, Kimi Antonelli will start from pole position, with Max Verstappen alongside him on the front row.
