Max Verstappen was also penalized by the stewards following the Miami Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver received a five-second penalty for crossing the white line at the pit exit.
Following Charles Leclerc, bad news from the stewards for Max Verstappen, who received a 5-second penalty after the conclusion of the Miami Grand Prix. The penalty was based on a well-known regulation violation: a breach of Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 6(c) of the FIA International Sporting Code, which strictly prohibits crossing the pit lane exit line.
At the time, the incident was not clear enough to be judged immediately. The stewards therefore continued their investigation after the race, relying on new footage.
Verdict: the outer edge of the Red Bull's left front tire did indeed cross the solid white line.
As a result, a 5-second penalty was added to the race time.
But unlike other decisions made after the finish—such as the one involving Charles Leclerc—this penalty has no concrete consequences.
In fact, with the 20-second penalty imposed on Leclerc, the Ferrari driver drops behind Verstappen. Even with his 5-second penalty, the Dutchman therefore retains his 5th place in the final standings.
A lesser evil for Verstappen, who had already put on a thrilling performance after spinning out at the start and fighting his way back through the field.
