Beyond the usual grading system, there are additional grading systems that can be adapted to different types of exams.
The points system in Formula 1 has been changed several times. Until 2009, a Grand Prix victory earned only 10 points, and only the top eight finishers received points. The biggest overhaul took place in 2010, with additional changes added in subsequent seasons. Since the 2010 revision, points are awarded as follows for a standard race: | Position | Points |
|———-|——–| | 1st | 25 | | 2nd | 18 | | 3rd | 15 | | 4th | 12 | | 5th | 10 | | 6th | 8 | | 7th | 6 |
| 8th | 4 | | 9th | 2 | | 10th | 1 | An additional point is awarded to the driver who sets the fastest lap, provided they finish in the top ten. The same point is also awarded to the manufacturer of the car they drove. No points are awarded for the fastest lap if the driver does not finish in the top ten or if the race leader has completed less than half of the scheduled distance. Starting in the 2025 season, the bonus for the fastest lap will be eliminated, ending a practice that began in 2010. Sprint races introduced their own points system. In 2022, only the top three drivers scored points (3-2-1). From 2023, the system was expanded to reward the top eight drivers: | Position | Points | |———-|——–| | 1st | 8 | | 2nd | 7 | | 3rd | 6 | | 4th | 5 | | 5th | 4 | | 6th | 3 | | 7th | 2 | | 8th | 1 | Special circumstances apply when a race is stopped and cannot be restarted. No points are awarded if the leader has completed fewer than two laps or if those laps were completed under the safety car or virtual safety car. If at least two laps have been completed, points are calculated based on the distance covered:
– 25% of the race distance covered 1st – 6, 2nd – 4, 3rd – 3, 4th – 2, 5th – 1 (no points for positions 6 to 10)
– 50% of the race distance completed 1st – 13, 2nd – 10, 3rd – 8, 4th – 6, 5th – 5, 6th – 4, 7th – 3, 8th – 2, 9th – 1 (no points for 10th place)
– 75% of the race distance covered 1st – 19, 2nd – 14, 3rd – 12, 4th – 10, 5th – 8, 6th – 6, 7th – 4, 8th – 3, 9th – 2, 10th – 1 If more than 75% of the planned distance is covered, the complete points table presented at the beginning of this article is used.
