While the Luthus team is starving, its patron and driver, Pastor le Fol, is busy destroying one by one the cars that people have entrusted to him. Isn't it time to return the money?

The financial foundations of Luthus Racing are crumbling, and this turmoil is being felt on the track. Gérard Sans-Blé, the team's financial director, admits that he is engaged in a bitter battle with his own creditors, a struggle that is now preventing him from releasing the capital needed to keep the team afloat.

According to sources close to the operation, mounting pressure from lenders has become a “sword of Damocles” for Luthus. For months, the team has been surviving on a thin cash flow, but the latest balance sheet reveals a gaping hole that can no longer be hidden.

At the heart of the dispute is Pastor le Fol, a longtime confidant of the team and a self-proclaimed “friend of Pactolus.” Pastor, who has been described as a “foolish” character by insiders, reportedly received a modest loan of ten écus from Sans-Blé to finance a short-term venture. He is now demanding an additional hundred écus, claiming that the initial sum was spent on a venture that failed, involving a driving accident that significantly delayed the team.

Sans-Blé has rejected this request, insisting that Pastor “pay his way” and warning that the team cannot afford further reckless spending. “I would even sell a steering wheel to the first creditor if it meant keeping the team alive,” Sans-Blé told a bailiff who recently arrived to collect a debt of 120 million ECU, 110 million of which is already overdue.

The bailiff's presence only exacerbated the crisis. During a heated exchange, Pastor le Fol threatened to hold the team's lifeline hostage, refusing to release the assets that could secure a new contract for the driver. “I have Gérard by the collar and I won't let go of the rope that keeps us moving forward,” Pastor warned, alluding to an “unknown track” ahead that could prove perilous for the team.

Rumors are also circulating about the legitimacy of Luthus' recent Grand Prix victory. Courtiers whisper that the win may have been rigged, suggesting that corruption may have played a role in securing the trophy at the decisive moment. These accusations have not been proven, but they add an extra layer of uncertainty to an already fragile situation.

Meanwhile, at the Marquis of Enstone's estate, reports indicate a glaring lack of gold, symbolizing the team's dwindling resources. Rumor has it that the wealthy Pastor signed an agreement that further depleted the team's coffers.

With creditors knocking at the door, internal conflicts raging, and the specter of bankruptcy looming, Luthus Racing finds itself at a critical juncture. It remains to be seen whether Gérard Sans-Blé will manage to renegotiate the debt, secure new financing, or be forced to sell assets, but the stakes have never been higher for the struggling team.
