Formula 1 is heading to Florida for the fourth round of the 2026 season, the Miami Grand Prix. In just a few years, this event has become a must-see, blending American-style spectacle with a genuine technical challenge. Here's everything you need to know ahead of the weekend.

Miami: A Unique Circuit on the Calendar

Set around Hard Rock Stadium, the Miami International Autodrome is often described as a street circuit. In reality, it is a temporary track built on a dedicated site, which sets it apart from the narrow streets of Monaco or Baku.

Stretching 5.41 km, it features 19 turns and three DRS zones. A modern mix: fast, fluid… but far from easy to master.

A technical and demanding track

On paper, Miami seems balanced. In reality, it demands true precision.

The first sector features a series of fast corners that demand full commitment. Next, a long, full-throttle stretch puts the engines to the test, before reaching the circuit's slowest section, between turns 12 and 16, with that now-iconic passage under the highway.

Finally, the long straight reignites the action, with hard braking that creates opportunities for overtaking.

Add to that the heat, a track that changes constantly, and tricky tire management… and you have a real headache for the teams.

Sprint Format: No Room for Error

Miami is hosting a Sprint weekend, which changes everything.

A single free practice session, qualifying on Friday, and two races on the schedule: the Sprint (19 laps) and the Grand Prix (57 laps, or 308 km).

Time to understand the car is limited, and every strategic decision becomes crucial. Here, improvising comes at a high cost.

High stakes after the break

This Grand Prix marks a potential turning point in the season.

After several weeks without a race, all the teams are arriving with updates. Miami will therefore serve as the first true test.

The pecking order remains tight between Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes. And on a track like this, the gaps can change quickly.

 Key stats

  • Length: 5.41 km
  • Turns: 19
  • Laps in the race: 57
  • Total distance: 308.370 km
  • Sprint: 19 laps (102.7 km)
  • Lap record: 1:29.708 (Max Verstappen, 2023)

A young circuit… but already making its mark

Since its debut in 2022, Miami has already delivered several highlights.

Max Verstappen has two wins there, while Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have also triumphed.

Often lively scenarios: overtakes at Turn 1, spectacular comebacks, or opportunistic strategies. Generally, there's never a dull moment. We hope that won't be the case given the late start time of the race.

A weekend of spectacle and performance

Miami also has a unique atmosphere. A highly visible paddock, a strong media presence, and an atmosphere firmly focused on the spectacle. An American-style show, which, deep down, surprises no one.

But behind this façade, the sporting challenge is very real.

Between tire management, energy conservation, and strategic opportunities tied to the Sprint format, this Grand Prix could well carry significant weight in the rest of the season, which is just getting started. What are your predictions?
